Hi,
I have an 0.42 install running smoothly with a bunch of mods. I would like to upgrade to 0.43.
I searched on the forum, but failed finding info on how to do this. Quite certain the question has been answered but can't find it.
Is it possible to upgrade without making a new install from scratch ?
And if so, how do I do this ?
Thanks !

You can just uninstall 0.42 and install 0.43. All your settings are stored in other folders and will be kept for the new version.

Re: upgrade from 0.42 to 0.43
Thank you for your answer lysol.
How do you do that please.
I am on windows 10, should I just go in my list of programs and uninstall 0.42 then launch "OpenMW-0.43.0-win64.exe" ?
Will the new install of 0.43 find automatically the right path to be linked with my mods and actual datas ?
I would appreciat if you could detail the process and different steps.
Thanks !

Yes, and yes.rumpilstilskin wrote: ↑12 Mar 2018, 00:17 I am on windows 10, should I just go in my list of programs and uninstall 0.42 then launch "OpenMW-0.43.0-win64.exe" ?

Where did you install the mods by the way? As long as you didn't put them in the OpenMW folder, you're good to go.

Re: upgrade from 0.42 to 0.43
Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately my mods are under the OpenMW 0.42 file.
Following screens of my install, mods are in C/OpenMW.0.42.0/Data Files :
I would appreciate your advise, so I can upgrade today and in the futur with the upcoming improvements on OpenMW.
Should I change my install ?
Thanks !

Ok, then I have a suggestion. Move the Data Files folder (ctrl+x, i.e. cut) and place it somewhere else, for example C:\OpenMW mods\Data Files. Then go to your settings.cfg file (located in C:\Users\[Your username]\Documents\my games\openmw). In the settings.cfg file, locate the part where the path to your mods are (should be C:\OpenMW.0.42.0\Data Files) and type in the path to your new mod folder instead of the old one.
When this is done, your mods are "independent" of your OpenMW folder, so you can now uninstall and install OpenMW as much as you like without messing with your mods. So whenever OpenMW releases a new version, simply uninstall the version you have installed and install the newest version after. All the settings, saves and so on are safely stored in the same folder as the settings.cfg file.

Re: upgrade from 0.42 to 0.43
Didn't manage to have it run with your suggestion lysol.
First issue the path to my mods are in "openmw.log" not in "settings.cfg". Not a big deal, I followed your methode and pointed to the new Data file out of OpenMW 0.42.0 in "openmw.log".
Didn't work, OpenMW 0.43.0 didn't find any mods. I guess I messed up at a point^^ Thought it is quite simple Oo ...
So ended by installing every thing back to 0.42.0 install - I had a backup folder
Gave a try just installing OpenMW 0.43.0 in C/ (same as my 0.42.0 install) ... Launched 0.43.0... it includes all my mods and saves ! - it is with no doubt 0.43.0 : I tested drinking a load of potion one after another by clics^^
So every thing seems to be working
Thanks again for your help !

Re: upgrade from 0.42 to 0.43
The file you were supposed to edit is "openmw.cfg", not openmw.log and not settings.cfg. I'm sure lysol made a typo.
