Can't install data files from a Steam installation

Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit, OpenMW built from git source rev 62f0ba604505714eb8291c18355d48abfeb2cb18

Could it just be that my Steam installation got corrupted?

There's an easy way to test if the Steam installation is corrupted.
  • Open Steam
  • Go to your library
  • Right-click on Morrowind
  • Choose "Properties"
  • Click on the "Local Files" tab
  • Click the "Verify integrity of game files…" button
It will either say "All files successfully validated", meaning that you do not have a corrupt Steam install, or it will offer to fix it for you.

Well, I've reinstalled Morrowind on Steam from scratch, re-verified the cache, just to be sure. Same result. I guess, I'd write a bug report then.
