Option to Autosave after so many minutes

Post by Greendogo »

I suggest we put an option in the "Prefs" menu under "Grab Cursor" with an [enable]/[disable] toggle button with the text:
"[Enable/Disable] Autosave every [textbox] minutes."
Where the textbox would have something like 15 as a default, but could be edited by the user.

...and to keep the last <number> of autosaves. If after autosaving there is more than <number> autosaves the oldest is deleted.

It should also keep the last couple of quick saves.

Also, option to Autosave when entering a cell, autosave when combat is initiated, ect. keep at least two autosaves as well as at least two quicksaves, perhaps an option to add extra auto/quicksaves?

Autosaves for sleeping and doors could be separate. Would be very nice.

So long as there is an option for it, it would be very handy.

What about an undo feature!!?! O.0'
You could just press control z and undo almost everything that happens in the game lol jk

I like this idea! But maybe have its own slot instead of wring over the quicksave or autosave slot?

Autosave - saving before sleeping
Quicksave - just a quick button press to save
Save - a full save/new slot
Timedsave - save based on the elapsed time

This way you could have the best of both worlds and it would be a bit easier to implement.

Autosave when entering combat sounds like a horrible idea. Such a save would then be for right when the enemy sees you, but if you died fighting them that usually means:
  • The fight is too tough for your current level, so you need to avoid it,
  • you were ill-prepared, so you need to take a bit of time preparing before combat,
  • and/or you approached the enemy poorly, so you need to find a new tactic.
In all those cases, having a save when battle has just/already started, you're in trouble.
