An idea:
Maybe instead of having the Downloads link go straight to the google code page, it could have instructions for different OSes/Distros, and corresponding links? I see in some recent post that someone didn't know we have a Launchpad PPA, and I'm guessing they just clicked straight to the Downloads page and then grabbed whatever seemed sensible.
Also, this could cut down some of the text on our release announcements, we could just direct all users to the same page, and then they can follow the correct links from there.
Thoughts?

Re: "Downloads" page
Great idea... maybe a Download page on OpenMW.org itself (Wordpress page) that then does as you suggest for each OS/Distro on where to find the right packages.
It would cut down on the noise.

Re: "Downloads" page
End users (non-devs) should be using ppa:openmw/openmw
https://launchpad.net/~openmw/+archive/openmw
^-- where they can get more information about how to add the ppa.

Re: "Downloads" page
Here's a quick draft. Don't we have Arch packages in the AUR? Should we put a note about that?
Code: Select all
<h3>Ubuntu</h3>
<p>Packages are available in our <a href="https://launchpad.net/~openmw/+archive/openmw">Launchpad PPA</a>.</p>
<h3>Debian</h3>
<p>Packages are available in our <a href="http://forum.openmw.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1298">Debian PPA</a>.</p>
<h3>OS X / Windows / Other Linux</h3>
<p>Executables and packages are available at our <a href="https://code.google.com/p/openmw/downloads/list">Google Code Download Page</a>.</p>

Re: "Downloads" page
Yes, we have - Sandy Carter (bwrsandman) is a maintainer of openmw packages in AUR (I've added information about it too).

Re: "Downloads" page
There is also a gentoo ebuild... Anyone heard from the maintainer lately?
Re: "Downloads" page
Ah looks like we need to edit the forum theme to change the link in the navbar here too. I would have totally overlooked that!
