The Dark Mod

Post by ezzetabi »

```
THE DARK MOD is a total conversion for Doom 3, turning it into a dark and moody stealth game inspired by the Thief series by Looking Glass Studios. More like a professional game release than a mod, it includes creative new gameplay features, dozens of unique AI, and a complete set of custom art assets, allowing players and mappers alike to enjoy missions in a gothic steampunk universe.
I hope this thread is totally unneeded as everyone already know this perl, but in case...
Beside TDM soon will be a standalone game, not a mod anymore!
The Dark Mod is now a standalone game.
Here's a video description for those of you unfamiliar with the game.
This looks really fun, I am going to try it :D
The game is "entirely open source," does that mean the media they replaced (sounds, textures, shaders) are licensed GPL same as the engine? Because that would be super cool :) still cool either way. Love to see iD Tech releases put to use, and Doom 3 engine doesn't have as many mods as Quake 3 engine.
So go nuts... in theory, if we could port them to NIF, we could use them in our Example Suite.
I tried it, it seems like fun, but the audio lags behind the gameplay by like 30 seconds at least. Apparently Pulse Audio is the culprit, but kind of sad that this pile of other Linux games I have have no issues with PA, but this one does... If I get the chance to try a workaround I will report back.
