So, I created few things with inkscape. Like this plasma theme: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Ra ... ent=151039 or my mouse pointer theme, but I don't consider myself pro for sure. Yet, I decided to learn icon making stuff, just for fun. My first attempt, a folder icon!

It was harder then it looks
Learning Inkscape. The hard way.
Re: Learning Inkscape. The hard way.
If it harder than it looks, it must be made of diamond as it looks great.
Re: Learning Inkscape. The hard way.
Yeah. I would actually be comfortable with using something of this quality level in the editor.

Re: Learning Inkscape. The hard way.
Glad that you like this icon guys.
Well, as I said I'm not a professional. Making this icon was learning expirence, especialy when it comes to perspective and gradients. It took time to make something good, as every detail matters. Pvdk can confirm this.
Yet I want to learn more about inkscape and making icons. I can try to make OpenCS icons along the way as well but i really need input on how this icons should look. For example I have no idea how GMST icon should look. I imagine this as some sort of binary (but how to picture binary file anyway?), or maybe a list.

GMST means Game Setting, so... An open book with the left page the "MW" of OpenMW logo and in the right page a pen that writes "Settings" e.g., "Set...(pen)"?
I do not know the size of the icons, of course the smaller the more difficult.

22x22. Small icons. The typical size of action (like refresh in web browser window) icons in your application is 32x32.
PS
Some would say that for this we need even smaller icons.
