How does the position attribute work?

I'm currently messing with the level progress tooltip and I would like to know how the four numbers in the "position" attribute of the layout xml relate to the position within the tooltip. I have added an AutoSizedTextBox to the tooltip and would like to move the new text downward (it's currently too close to the level progress bar for my taste). Changing the numbers in "position" doesn't seem to affect it. Thanks.
