Moving from old mod setup to OpenMW mod setup - anything I need to know?

Post by Aramithius » 22 Jul 2017, 10:46

I'm thinking of rationalising my years-old mess of mods by clearing everything out and reinstalling them through the OpenMW separate folders method. Can I just delete everything in the Data Files folder, replace them with the vanilla files and then plug the OpenMW folder paths in to openmw.cfg?

I'm asking because all the current mods I have are listed under the "content=" list in openmw.cfg. Will this automatically clear out or do I need to adjust anything in openmw.cfg manually, beyond specifying the file paths as "data=" entries?

You don't need to touch "content=" lines, they should get edited/replaced automatically by launcher. The only thing you need to manually add are the "data=" lines.

Just to be safe, you might want to check that mods are loaded in correct order in launcher before starting openmw.

EDIT: Also, always have backups. Even if it's just few config files for a game.
