Body Part ID's

Post by weedfreak »

As I understand it, when adding body parts (for a new race) you need to add whatever_hand and whatever_hand.1st to work in 3rd and 1st person. The editor does not allow the period between hand and 1st when creating a new record. It does allow and display them from esm or esp files.

Sorry. I don't follow. What exactly are you trying to add where exactly?

I think I see where the confusion is from. In Morrowind you have an ID for 1st person hands and for 3rd person I guess? And these are aimed at 2 separate .nif files, albeit they use the same "hand" slot. So how does the engine distinguish which goes where? Maybe same ID + .1st?

Can´t type a "." in HandPart.1st: http://i.imgur.com/Mvg8r9i.png

Question. Does OpenMW even use the hands.1st ID?

It seems omw does not need the .1st version of the hands, 1st and 3rd person seem to work OK with just the hands body part. I have created two new races for a new omw game all animations work as pc and as npc, only problem is the npc's have no heads or hair even though they are defined. Great fun watching naked (no cloths made yet) elves and hobbits running around like headless chickens.

I noticed this also while trying to create a new race. openCS does not allow entering a "." in the object ID field. The NPC race I created looked right but they were non-playable races so their was no view change for them.

If openMW/openCS is not going to use the hands.1st body part can we simply remove them in openCS then if they are not required?

I though this was just a bug or unfinished feature.
