physics engine / pal*opal

Post by kingtiger01 »

Is pal(http://www.adrianboeing.com/pal/index.html) physics abstraction layer, possible?

I could see many benefits to having multiple low-level physics support. Even more so for people without licensing resrictions(havok/nvidia physx) would be possible and runtime selectable.

Just a thought(wrote this on my phone so sorry if this is written terribly)

What are the benefits of being able to swap in/out the underlying physics engine?
Would they be significant enough to warrant rewriting the physics interface code?

My guess, without knowing the scope of the physics system, is "No." At least not until there's a major hurdle that PAL would help overcome in some way.

Thoughts?
