OpenMW Andriod -- Graphics Issues... Any Ideas?

I have been messing around with the latest Android port of openMW on my Asus Zenpad 3s 10 (android 7.0) and get either one of two issues when loading the game.
If I select GLESv1 I get an error immediately "failed to create graphics context" followed by the game not loading at all, and if I use GLESv2 then the game loads and runs fairly well (frame wise and such) except the ground textures don't seem to be mapped at all... they're present but they appear to be one texture filled per cell. This causes harsh texture cuts and no variety (as in there's no 'pathways' because the entire cell is one filled texture). This happens to the exterior textures only. The Interior textures have no issues. Everything else graphically seems to be okay in GLESv2. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
