Flash Interface

Post by Necrod »

I wanted to ask if that's possible/simple to make, but now as I was browsing ogre forums, i found this http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=41999

flash is dead. Besides, it's dead for a reason because its a pain to use. And no one wants to throw away the gui we already have.

Totally out of question anyway:
Also, it's ActiveX, so Windows only.

Dead? Didn't Skyrim use flash for menus?
I actually thought it would be easier to make interface in flash, and it can look better. Though I didn't see it's Win only :/

anyway this topic is pointless.

Would this let us wrap SWFs around models so we could play "The End of the World" on the open rib cage of the Akulakhan? Because if so I say we totally do that.

Yes Skyrim uses Flash for its User Interface. (everything, even the lockpicking minigame)

and it is terrible. really buggy and slow.

To be fair, they don't use normal flash but rather scaleform to run the UI.
Scaleform is also used by Unreal Engine 3 and any derived games. (Mass Effect for example)
Even the Source engine is starting to use scaleform (DotA 2 has it)
