I prefer clean desktops like that, no folders, icons etc, just a neat wallpaper and some minimal, dark, non glossy ui.

Of course it is hard to keep it clean long enough when I work with stuff . I just save to desktop anything for quickness.

I actually have 113925 files in various folders on my desktop.

Here is a screenshot of my desktop. Using MATE 1.6 on Ubuntu 12.04 (planning to switch distributions at some point, not sure when). Theme is based on Ubuntu themes for LXDE and XFCE.
