Looks like someone with an axe to grind against @maqifrnswa.

Such claim is so ridiculous I don't even know what would be the motivation for anyone to make it.

Maybe the guy found a hidden miner on his machine and assumed it hadn't been there for ages, so blamed the most recently installed bit of software, which happened to be OpenMW.

Funny... maqifrnswa is a Debian developer, so they have a problem with him, then he has a problem with Debian and Ubuntu. Debian takes the circle of trust seriously. Including commit signing.

This maqifrnswa, I don't know anything about him, but it sure sounds like he simply has something against him.

Posted a reply warning the user that the burden of proof rests with them. That this is libel and that they can be prosecuted. Scott is a professor at Nortre Dame, they will protect their own.

Even if you could successfully sue someone for shitposting on Steam (which I seriously doubt), I don't think threats of litigation are very conducive to convincing bystanders that OpenMW are the good guys in this exchange.

Sorry, I don't negotiate with terrorists... that includes those that engage in character assassination. No one should have to suffer that if there is no proof and only hearsay. It needs to be confronted for what it is at the very beginning. Ask for proof.

I did update the post to include the possibility that someone maliciously created their own windows package that could be bundled with a miner. That they should only trust builds from OpenMW.org or our Github release page.
