Nice... this is what I've been waiting for. I hope that it is network protocol compatible with the original and the HD version.

But beware, for sanity reasons:
  • No network compatibility with the original game. You really wanna have the same problems again?
  • No binary compatibility with the original game. A one-way script to convert maps/savegames/missions to openage is planned though.

Yes! Similar to OpenMW, the open source solution being used more than the original is way better for future development and community growth.
