- <Yser> magamo, I've never been to #morrowind
<magamo> *laughs*
<Yser> I'll check it now given your recommendation
<magamo> This chat log I'm reading disagrees with ya, bucko.
<Yser> there was nobody on ##morrowind freenode
<Yser> Oh, looks like I've been to a chatspike morrowind channel
<randall> I have a great idea for a mod if I had the skillz to do it, place my actual trailer in morrowind, as accurate as I can make it, with pictures to go from
<Yser> the information I was given on this channel was incorrect
<Yser> <randall> just install it and import your data, the wizard does that for you
<randall> tht's pretty much how it works
<Yser> the wizard did not import graphics updates, didn't work with MGO
<randall> o.0
<Yser> after the wizard completed and openmw runs, I got a graphically vanilla mw
<randall> yep
<Yser> so how far in the 30 hour count are we so far?
<Yser> just 1 say
<Yser> what next?
<randall> Yser, if your so hung up on Morrowind Graphic Overhaul, install the meshes and texrutes manually
<Yser> you said I didn't need to put in all the time
<randall> you don't
<randall> openmw iss sufficient out of the box, mgo is not even necessary
<Yser> ...
<shka> what?
<Yser> the one thing I was asking about is if OpenMW is capable of 100% playable Morrowind with the graphics overhaul and my selection of patches
<Yser> the response randall has is that "openmw is sufficient out of the box"
<Yser> translation: "none of your concerns even matter, the thing you wanted, I'm going to decide for you that you don't need"
<Yser> sorry randall OpenMW is not sufficient
<Yser> it provides me a downgraded experience relative to the vanilla client at this moment, or it presents me with the question: "what next?" and then you leave me all alone with "install meshes and textures manually"
<Yser> does anyone have a link to some instructions for a newbie like myself to read? for how to make OpenMW into a non-downgrade relative to what I get with Vanilla and MGO?
<shka> Yser: i think that MGO should suppor openmw and not the other way around
<shka> other than that, no good news
<magamo> Yser: After our conversation the other night, I'm not terribly inclined to answer your questions. Did you go into the data files tab of the OpenMW launcher and actually enable your mods? Did you import your Morrowind.ini? The Launcher makes those two steps pretty self evident.
<Yser> I don't think you can answer the question since you aren't aware that the data files tab doesn't even import the MGO
<magamo> ... Yep, I can't answer your question.
<magamo> Try the Wiki.
<magamo> I have not, nor will I ever use MGSO as packaged.
<Yser> So then you typed all of that for me, for what reason? because you weren't sure
<Yser> you thought maybe, it would work, but you didn't even verify it
<magamo> And, here's why I'm not inclined to answer your questions.
<shka> Yser: i was under impression that you tried…
<shka> for instance, why don't keep this simple, and copy all your data files to openmw location?
<magamo> shka: If he had pointed OpenMW at his Morrowind installation in the first place, then it would do ask he's looking for. Obviously he hasn't.
<shka> i see
<randall> yep
<shka> Yser: did you consider doing that?
<Yser> magamo again goes on no information
<Yser> scroll up through the conversation to the part where I said that I had not pointed OpenMW at the morrowind install
<randall> shka, magamo I'm beginning to doubt he even owns a copy of morrowind to begin with
<Yser> He just conjured that up
<Yser> and then randall has such low criteria for scientific method, he follows hear-say of another guy who made something up
<shka> Yser: hmmm that's what i would do
<magamo> Yes, I conjured it up, I'm a wizard.
<shka> i
<shka> i'm quite surprised that you didnt
<magamo> Yeah, I told you the other day to point OpenMW at your copy of Morrowind.
<shka> and i hate us style enter key
<magamo> You didn't try my suggestion.
<shka> also
<shka> kids this days
<shka>
<Yser> magamo, how would you know what I tried?
<Yser> In fact...
<magamo> Yep, done. How about them Yankees?
<Yser> You should have the social sense to be able to notice that when I accuse of you not being aware that the data files tab is unable to import the MGO, that should hint you / clue you off that in fact I am importing things in the data files tab
<randall> I haven't followed baseball since the strike in the 90s
<shka> Yser: ok, so i assume that MGO does not work with openmw, although you know how to start game with it enabled
<shka> is that correct?
<magamo> Yser: You are a master of the logical fallacy, and have no idea what 'social sense' means. In fact, there is no such thing as 'social sense', there's 'social grace', which you have zero of.
<magamo> randall: I haven't either, truth be told.
<Yser> shka, I pointed OpenMW at my Morrowind installation and imported all of my patches, it doesn't work with the MGO stuff though.
<Yser> magamo, you don't even need the 'social' part of it, you can rely on pure logic to notice that when I'm talking about you being unaware that the Wizard doesn't import MGO, *probably I'm using the Wizard, duh*
<Yser> get it?
<randall> magamo, I was in illinois at the time too, went to bootcamp a short bus ride from the cubs stadium
<shka> well, you may not like it but my guess is that you are out of luck
<shka> or perhaps did you checked forums by any chance?
<magamo> Or the Wiki. It's better than the FAQ.
<shka> Atrayonis: hello
<Atrayonis> Hello
<Yser> magamo you cannot respond to what I said and you tried to change the subject
<magamo> Yser: No, I actually said I was done with the conversation.
<shka> Yser: i'm pointing out forums because i recall that MGO was a topic there
<shka> i don't follow project as closely as i used to, so can't help further
<magamo> So, yeah, baseball strike, 1990s. I don't really remember it much because baseball really fell off my radar of interest afterward.
<shka> ooooh you fragile butterflowers
<Yser> magamo: You're done because I asked you to paste a line of text where I had said that I didn't point openMW at my install, and because I then pointed out how randall's thought process has a very low standard for monkey-say-monkey-repeat
<YsersBumhole> Baseball strikes?
<shka> YsersBumhole: don't ask me
<magamo> YsersBumhole: It opened with me asking, "So how about them Yankees"
<shka> anyway, i don't really have time for guys who can't behave like adults so take care
<Yser> <randall> yep
<Yser> this is how much you verify things in your thought process?
<YsersBumhole> Also I just noticed the similarity in our names
<YsersBumhole> What a crazy coincidence
<YsersBumhole> I've been going by this name for years
<Yser> shka, I'm getting a bunch of hits that people did it successfully
<randall> o.0
<shka> Yser: that was my impression as well
<shka> but i can't provide technical assitance
<shka> i would check forums if i were you
<Yser> neither can randall or magamo unfortunately, since they don't know enough about openMW
<Atrayonis> So, I hear someone needs 999 use cases.
<Yser> but I think you know a lot about it shka
<Yser> since you are an open minded person
<Atrayonis> Fortunately, we have an expert at work.
<magamo> Atrayonis: Lol!
<Yser> the open mindedness persists through all aspects of life
<YsersBumhole> Talk to me, I know all about openMW
<YsersBumhole> I've been using it for about 40 years now
<shka> Yser: sadly, i don't develop openmw since few years now
<shka> and don't even have time to play it
<Yser> YsersBumhole you know how to setup MGO on OpenMW?
<YsersBumhole> It's definitely my bag
<Yser> shka, understandable
<Yser> these other guys probably play it all day and they still don't even know how to set it up
<Yser> if I was into this project as much as they are

Re: Yo, we got our first IRC Troll
From this point of view, I can relate. Lets pick one! Between all Republicans: "Trump," between all Democrats: "Clinton." It's so weird.MikeMXellers wrote:I'd say he's a better vote than someone who's entire career has been nothing but using the power given to her by US citizens for personal gain, ideally it would have been Trump vs Sanders either one was a victory, both of them were against the way that corporate interests have their hands firmly up almost all politicians backsides.
On the other hand, I actually found some Trump points quite interesting, for example putting back the regulations that Clinton (the other one) removed causing the 2008 crisis and rethinking the now (probably ever) nonsensical NATO. Of course points like the "remove the no-gun zones" are insane, but Americans like to kill each other so much that those are important political points just to gain approval so I agree; unless he wants to lift airports security as well, that is.
I heard complains about Trump position on climate change, but I find it ridiculous. Sure it would be the only one denying it, but everyone else ignore the problem anyway and continue pushing with the last century idea of economics: "more grown, more debt!". So, what the difference? Being ignorant/stupid/evil or being hypocrite/stupid/evil? It does not really matter if what you do at the end is the same.
About the topic, it's not possible just to ban the guy?
Besides, the OP stated "You thought OpenMW was immune to human stupidity and insensitivity toward open source project?" As he said, of course not. But open/closeness has nothing to do about it. Just walk around some Microsoft support forum and you can see all kind of stupidity against closed source code too.

Why ban him? He´s provided an entire thread worth of entertainment and some people seem to be enjoying the conversations.
Edit: On the topic of Trump. I think he´s politically incorrect, denies climate change and generally I don´t agree with him. As such, he should be banned from the elections.

Fair enough, enjoy!

This guy doesn't sound like a troll; he just sounds like an idiot.

It's usually a fine line to divide them, if such a line even exists.Okulo wrote:This guy doesn't sound like a troll; he just sounds like an idiot.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works. Society states: 51% are clever, 49% are dumb. Reality and facts have nothing to do with it. You might like this (unpublished) article about why Politics simply make no sense to actually improve the world as a whole. Surely, it works fine for a selected few, for a little time.DestinedToDie wrote:Edit: On the topic of Trump. Re: Yo, we got our first IRC Troll
Not to stir the flames, but perhaps the correct response to a troll on IRC is not to start a thread on the forum in which we devolve into internet political debates (with all the quality that includes) and basically give a ton of attention to a troll or a novice user who's just rubbing people the wrong way (I lean toward troll, but I'm misanthropic, so take what you will from that).

Re: Yo, we got our first IRC Troll
Guys, settle down, openMW is really not a place to superficially discuss politics. I just made the original statement about Trump because he discussed hard. It's no statement on Trumps intelligence (or stupidity as someone stated). It's purely an observation of discussion tactics - probably even a wrong one. In short: it was just a frakkin' joke!lgromanowski wrote:Moved it to "Off topic" subforum as this topic is going around politics (it's more suitable there imho).
I'm sick and tired of everyone getting so irrational and overemotional when it comes to (especially atm trendy American) politics. Let's put our minds to more useful things... right?

Posting the lesser evil is destroying this thread...greetasdf wrote:
