Re: Learning Inkscape. The hard way.
I wanted to make grey/white plasma theme that won't be transparent and glossy. So I launched inkscape and started toying with files from other themes to compile something good enough. That's how I learned to manipulate nodes, objects, rename, and other very basic elements.
Then I wanted to make a mouse pointer since I didn't like the fact that I use DMZ like everybody else I used inkscape again and voila! http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/re ... ent=157201
Inkscape is fun.

They're lookin pretty nice. I don't think you need much feedback for the purposes of these icons, but here's a thought for the future: You'll want to pick some kind of visual element that brings all of the icons together as a single unit. Right now you've got simple shapes and simple colors and nice gradients, and that ties them together, but it doesn't necessarily look intentional. The icon theme I use in Ubuntu has a "square with rounded corners" style to it: http://tiheum.deviantart.com/art/Faenza-Icons-173323228 and it really looks cohesive. Some other icon themes for example, use a limited color palette for all of the icons, or a particular art style, or something like that. Again, this is sort of something beyond the needs of what we are doing here, so I wouldn't worry about it, but it's my comment!

No.square with rounded corners
That's what i'm doing right now. But at the moment I'm not sure what colors do I need so I just do everything and will adjust colors later. Some other icon themes for example, use a limited color palette for all of the icons
I hate idea of making icons in one style. The stock icon from shiny new app will just look like crap next to it. This is the reason why I hate monochrome tray icons just as bad.

I was most definitely not telling you to copy the visual style of an already-existing icon theme. It was just an example.sirherrbatka wrote:No.square with rounded corners
