Morrowind torch flickering
Morrowind torch flickering
Right now, torches, fires, mushrooms, and all other unsteady sources of light give off a pulse. So, it gets brighter every half second or so, then it gets darker. But in vanilla Morrowind, fires and torches "flicker," with random lengths of periods of brightening and darkening. It probably wouldn't be hard to implement this.
Re: Morrowind torch flickering
It looks like there was a ticket about this: http://bugs.openmw.org/issues/213
They settled on using a sine wave for the light's magnitude. But in Morrowind, it would be a sine wave with a randomly changing wavelength. I request that the ticket be reopened, or another one made.

You can add another issue to the tracker, if you want.
Re: Morrowind torch flickering
Alright, I will. I wasn't sure if I needed to be on the dev team to do so, since the group was called "developers."
Re: Morrowind torch flickering
Torches emit too little light in vanilla Morrowind, always thought it was a night-atmosphere killer
Re: Morrowind torch flickering
Light never played a huge role in the original game to begin with. Someone did come out with a mod that rectifies this.Necrod wrote:Torches emit too little light in vanilla Morrowind, always thought it was a night-atmosphere killer
