Code exchange with Aedra

Post by jvoisin »

I found this message : http://sourceforge.net/projects/aedra/f ... e=11098698

Since openmw and aedra are implementing their own script engine,
maybe could we borrow them some code ?

Well, it looks like Aedra already has a scripting system (though in an early state). Unless they want to plug it out and replace it completely, there is little the OpenMW code could help. However since our code is GPL'ed, it is available for reuse under the same licence. They don't even need our permission for that.

I was saying that we could take some code from them, at least on these feature.

Sorry, misunderstood you. Well except for some bits and bobs and some optimisation our script engine is complete, so there is nothing we need from them.

What about math-related stuff? Did Aedra figure out what formulas Morrowind uses?

About Morrowind formulas:
Everyone who play Morrowind nowadays use MCP and MGEXe.
These wonderfuls programs are manteined by Hrnchamd.

The Morrowind Code Patch correct formulas, gameplay and introduces many new features to Morrowind
http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=19510

I´d like to highlight these:
"- Pickpocket rewrite. - Pickpocket mechanic was broken by default, overhauled to be much more usuable, with difficulty based on weight."
"- Mercantile fix. Merchants should no longer pay less for an item with increasing mercantile skill."
"- Restore/drain attributes fix. Restore attributes spells did not recognise Fortify effects when restoring. Restore attributes spells now restore up to your fully fortified amount."

He´s working with the Morrowind exe and many times has proved have access to the inner formulas of Morrowind. Exactly what you are in need.

This is his contact page in Bethsoft Forums. He´s very active.

These are overrides to specific game mechanics. Doesn't help with figuring out formulae for old game mechanics unfortunately.

Certainly to create these hacks they know the original formulas. I bet he have this archived. I remember he´s answering someone about the old formulas. It´s a good idea to risk.
