OpenMW 0.43.0

Anything related to PR, release planning and any other non-technical idea how to move the project forward should be discussed here.

So, we just ignore this issue and hope that no one encounters any bugs? How much of an annoyance are these anyway?

@raevol: Is there anything else keeping you from releasing v0.43.0?

Hmm, damn. I was logging in just now to do the release.
wareya wrote: 02 Dec 2017, 18:40 The windows RC is still apparently made with an old version of SDL2 - 2.0.4 - that has annoying input bugs.
Can you be more specific? Is this like, "when I run OpenMW my keyboard melts into a puddle on my desk" or is this like "button 57 on my Wingmaster Thrust 4000 doesn't have support for its heat-sensor alternate input"? Meaning, are the "annoying input bugs" catastrophic or trivial? It would be most useful if you can specify what the bugs are, so we can judge if we need to delay the release or not. I'm with Ace that I'd rather not delay for a rebuilt release package, but it's hard to make a call when we don't know what is going on.

A forum comment claiming "annoying input bugs" is not a release blocker, there is not even a bug report linked.
Ship it and do a bugfix release if needed!

Agreed. However, this part:
wareya wrote: 02 Dec 2017, 18:40 2.0.5:
- By default the click raising a window will not be delivered to the SDL application. You can set the hint SDL_HINT_MOUSE_FOCUS_CLICKTHROUGH to "1" to allow that click through to the window.
- Fixed XBox controller triggers automatically being pulled at startup
- Reset dead keys when the SDL window loses focus, so dead keys pressed in SDL applications don't affect text input into other applications.
I believe indicates the bugs that were fixed. In other words, read as if those three things were inverted and those are the bugs. You can decide whether that's worth delaying anything.

Do we have any Windows users here who could just test the release package real quick? Or is our Windows user base so small that we can ignore it anyway?

Will do. I've found 2 bugs, but one was reported back in 2015 (with the main game) and another is also with the main game (and probably has no effect). I'm slowly feeding in mods. I can say one thing though -- I was putting my data= lines in openmw.cfg in the main folder (because the one in My Games gets overwritten after open/close of OpenMW -- and the update overwrote the default openmw.cfg -- My lesson: Back that shit up :)

So far, no bugs when moving, attacking, inventory or anything basic. Haven't done anything with spells yet, but basic movement skills are working without an issue

Thank you for testing! Do either of these bugs have to do with input?

Is this a reported issue? I'm not quite sure I follow what you are saying, but that sounds like a pretty big bug. (Not one that will stop the release, just one that we should know about)
