Copyright release

Post by nico »

Hi guys,

I was the original initiator of the OpenMW project back in the day. For what it's worth, I just want to say that I hereby release all my original contribution to the project into the public domain, should you guys ever want switch license away from the GPL3 for whatever reason. I don't know if any of my specific code is even left in the codebase, but I guess it would legally still count as "derived work" which is also covered by the GPL.

This doesn't really affect the OpenMW project in any way, except giving you slightly more options on the licensing front. I'm personally getting increasingly smiten with the Unlicense, so that's why I'm going around and re-releasing most of my past code under that license.

Anyway, thanks for the awesome thing you guys have turned and are turning this project into :D
