Sven-Hendrik is an Arch developer responsible for maintaining Ogre3D, MyGui, Bullet and a whole lot of other FOSS games. I asked him if he was interested in maintaining OpenMW as a binary package in ArchLinux' [community] repository.Sven-Hendrik Haase wrote: Alright sounds good, I'll take it.
He agreed. What this means is, the openmw will be available without 3rd party AUR tools such as yaourt which compiles it. Any user can now install the packaged binary using # pacman -S openmw
openmw-git is still available in the AUR for the latest upstream changes.
What this also means is that I will no longer be maintaining openmw.
This has been a very important responsibility for me. Maintaining openmw was my first real dive into Open Source and has had a huge impact on my life as I now work as an Open Source developer and consultant.
For now, users rejoice! It will no longer take you half an hour to compile openmw just to see the new features of 0.28.0.
