@WeirdSexy: update needed for v0.28.0 French, sorry.

@all:
I think using a collaborative text editor (e.g.: http://board.net/) can ease the process when several person translate into a given language. This can ease checking for typos/mistakes, and WeirdSexy wouldn't have to update the subtitles several times.

Here are the steps I have in mind:
  1. Someone create the shared document (we can share the link by private messages to prevent vandalism if necessary)
    Someone wrote:Board for v0.29.0 French opened. link
  2. Collaborative translation.
  3. Timing adjustement (for that I download the video using quvi —youtube-dl or equivalent should work too—, place it aside the subtitles file, and then iterate between playing it with subtitles enabled and editing time values).
  4. When we're done, someone post the result.

@potatoesmaster, updated.

I would welcome some more intelligent system for doing this. Especially if we also set up a mailing list or just PM a list of translators (provided the get email notifications for that) as soon as the English captions are available. This way, we could probably get most translations on the videos before they are made public. Most people see the videos within a few days after they are posted.

I'm not familiar with the various tools out there for doing all of this (I don't even know if there are many of them). But I can, of course, be the one responsible for making the English captions available for translating and sending PMs to a list of translators or whatever.

Collaborative translation seems a good idea.

but some reminder is necessary for me,
because if I don't translate immediatly, I forget...

I can do UA translation as soon as EN captions are available. You can just save the emails of all translators and send a message to them with EN captions. Or create a skype conf group. Just sayin'.
