Launchpad uses the source tar ball I give it, it is pure source with everything necessary to build. Launchpad does not add or remove anything from this file. It is exactly what is used to build. :)

sources as to why we do not use tagged releases anymore:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1168&p=12285&hilit ... iny#p12285
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1104&p=11185&hilit ... iny#p11185
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=962&p=10713&hilit= ... iny#p10713
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=851&p=9397&hilit=s ... hiny#p9397

Update: the reasons above were because shiny was a submodule, this isn't the case anymore according to scrawl. If we ever go back to using submodules, it will be a problem again.

Its not a submodule anymore, so you can use the github tag downloads now.

Since when? :)

Then it is good enough as is, but just wondering why a zip and not a tar.gz or tar.bz2? 2.4MiB vs. 1.7MiB in size difference.

openmw-0.21.0.zip Uploaded: Yesterday (25 hours ago)
and
https://openmw.org/en/?s=shiny and https://openmw.org/en/?s=submodule
doesn't return anything about it.

That is why. :) Anyway, I just tested zip... no problems there. :) Lucky!

Scrawl or someone, is this just a defect in their models or a defect in OpenMW?
*cough*

A defect in OpenMW. However, it is now (mostly) fixed: https://github.com/zinnschlag/openmw/co ... a23d72e781
