Good day everyone,

I'm a long time lurker, addict openMW player, as well as someone who frequently browses through Kickstarter.
Now... guess how surprised I was to seeing https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/20 ... escription amongst the campaign entries there? Helluva surprised, I can assure you!

I saw my fair share of kickstarter campaigns, but this so-called "openMW-OP openMW Overhaul Project" seems more than unserious. And half-assed, given that neither details nor footage whatsoever are mentioned. Well, that, and the fact that the person responsible doesn't link to openmw.org nor these forums despite using the name of "openMW".

I don't know about the official openMW crew, but this kickstarter can spell trouble on so many levels. Legally I mean.

Now this will be interesting.

See also this thread about the project. It’s basically a mod pack of other people’s mods with no relation to OpenMW, other than that the mods are distributed as .omwaddons. The author, TimMB, is also on Patreon, GoFundMe, and PayPal connected via NexusMods, so Kickstarter is just the latest in efforts to make money.

Is this legit?

I want to donate, but I read somewhere OpenMW doesn't accept money?

There has been a change in policy or is just a scam?

This has nothing to do with the official OpenMW project at all.

This has nothing to do with the official OpenMW project at all.

And based on the other thread, the guy has no right to try to make money off this. At all. It's a mod pack where he's fixing mods for OpenMW, according to him...without getting permission from the original owners AND asking for money for it. This is a "project" that I think OpenMW should actively try to distance itself from, for PR reasons if nothing else. Definitely don't donate.

I suggest you guys make noise on his funding pages by asking questions in the FAQ and reporting them. For those who own copyright, you can claim tha too.

Is this Halbe's project? If so, he's usually on Discord, you could probably discuss this with him there.

Nope, this is TimMB's project it seems.

Also, I think I remember Halbe contacting me earlier about including my textures in his modpack, so he seems to be an honest guy.
