What about asking the OSG people instead, to participate in the GSoC?

There's not all that much that a student could do for OSG except fix bugs or write documentation, both of which don't really qualify for GSoC. They could ask for someone to help them design a new scene graph which supports Vulkan, for example, but that would require a graphics expert, not a student.

Happy new year :)

Someone has to mention this law though.

Well in mid 2015, I thought we'd be done by late 2015, so hopefully I've soaked up at least a few rounds of Hofstadter's law.

Lots and lots of nearly-invisible bugs to fix. Maybe I should contribute again. I tried looking for what was causing https://bugs.openmw.org/issues/3876 but couldn't find it.

Suuuuure. Tbh, 2019-2020 would be more realistic.

Someone always HAS to be a kill joy. I'm personally inclined to believe Zini if he, as project lead, says that this year will probably see the release of 1.0

Why? What's left really?

Well, there's always Hofstadter's Law:
Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.
:P

To be serious: I wish you're gonna do it this year, without any unexpected problems. Of course there is nothing wrong IMHO in delaying releases if it's needed, yet still I hope best.
Also hello there.

I really hope someone with programming knowledge is interested in creating some kind of compatibility layer with MWSE after 1.0...

Because otherwise the best Necromancy mod ever made (Blasphemous Revenants: http://download.fliggerty.com/download-110-1) would remain unplayable in OpenMW :/
