Head bob? yay, neigh, or hay?

Post by Deonsion »

At the time Morrowind was released, headbobbing.. wasn't really a thing yet. Not too sure if their engine even had support. So i was wondering if there were any opinions on maybe adding a feature for headbob into OpenMW? To make it feel more natural, and that the character isn't just.. gliding across the ground..

I hate headbobbing with a passion. It's so disorienting. Same thing with gun bob in shooters.

Sorry for the negativity though, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Seeing your body when you look down would be better than headbob IMO, but why not, add a slider for it. Just as long as I can turn it off :P

Headbobbing, yes. I really dislike the smooth gliding when the camera is locked to a specific height above the ground, as it just re-enforces the 'floating arms and camera' sensation.

Gods no. Headbobbing is terrible. When you walk in real life, your brain filters out your own "bobbing" anyway. It's not realistic and it's disorienting because it's very unnatural.

Good idea for an optional feature. Personally, it often gives me gaming sickness even with games that otherwise wouldn't cause it for me, so I have to jump on the "Thanks, no" or "As long as I can turn it off" train. The idea of being able to see yourself when looking down, that would be neat though.

Is head bob the same as headtracking, like Skyrim has?

This. I get motion sickness easily. I am fine with it being an option though.

is head bob relevant to facial animations? are they supported by OpenMW, in an enhanced way compared to MW?
