Hey, thought I would share this with you all. There is a service called BOINC. It allows you to sign up with different projects and donate you extra CPU cycles/time to help organizations out. You can help do calculations to aid in the search for aliens, treatments/cures for diseases, search for black holes, predict global warming and much more. It doesn't take long to sign up and is easy to configure.
I myself lend my extra CPU time at night to Rosetta@home, which looks for new treatments and to find possible cures for diseases. There are many projects to choose from.
These services also keep track of your total work done and you can be compared to friends and others online. Join the online army to help these organizations out and make the world a better place.
