Actually, I think, it would probably be better to conform to the freedesktop standard (see XDG Base Directory Specification) and use "$XDG_CONFIG_HOME" if it is set or default to "$HOME/.config".

I haven't seen that one before, but I agree.
I'll see if I can find the time to change that tonight, otherwise it will probably have to wait to the end of next week.
