github commits in IRC channel

I think it would be nice to have the commits in the main repo (zinnschlag/openmw) announced in IRC channel. There is a service for this that you can basically set up with 1 click in github: http://cia.vc/

Can we convince our dear admins to do such a thing?

On your GitHub account
- Click Admin on the GitHub project page.
- Click Service Hooks.
- Click CIA in the list
- Check [X] Active

Now go to http://cia.vc and create an account.
- Create a new repository and enter the info
- Fill the website URL with https://github.com/your_login/your_repo.git
- Click Bots, Add bot and choose an IRC channel

Well, I'm not going to argue whether this particular solution is the best, since I'm unfamiliar with our options, but I agree it would be a pretty cool feature.

You sure about that? If that works the same way as with Twitter, it would only track the master branch. That means we have most of the time nothing and occasionally several dozen commits at once. Sounds rather annoying and mediocre useful to me.

btw. github has a direct service hook for IRC. Is there any advantage to go via this other site?

you can also set it up to track changes to any branch. (although it will still be limited to the main repo)

But i think that nontheless its very useful.

I don't know about the github IRC service hook, I havn't used it.
