PPA build script source attached

Hello all - someone requested the PPA autobuild scripts over the summer. The process is now a hack, it used to be so much easier and automatic, but changes to the system made me do one with cron jobs. Launchpad is supposed to automatically pull from a repo, then build based on that pull. However, la...

Re: Ubuntu Daily PPA Build Failure

Hi I've been traveling in Europe for past three weeks, so I can't get to my office - will give scripts/find better way (Travis?) To automate when I get back next week. Didn't go to Germany or Belgium :-( in Sweden now

Re: C++ performance article from MMO programmer

I've wondered about this, from an educational point of view... When teaching, how much should be spent on "best practices?" Usually, the goal of intro-level courses is to simply learn how things generally work and high-level programming concepts, it's possible for bad habits to sink in ear...

Re: Asset copyright clarity

Never heard of any plans to use Morrowind graphic mods. We will not use them. To address your question of Morrowind mods - they are not free. Bethesda owns them according to the EULA that you agree to when installing the Construction Set. Even your Scamp is owned by Bethesda due to it being a deriv...

Re: Delay 1.0 untill all of MWSE is implemented

The big regard against implementing Python is the abesence of functional sandboxing. At least I remember Zini writing about it 8-) exactly - and even if you used a sandboxed scripting engine (e.g., lua), you then risk fracturing the community and having incompatible dependencies between mods. Zini ...

Re: Proposal for getting this project done

awesome post! I agree with the OP statement: Games are creative works of art, and good art is hard to produce by committee. There needs to be a community that buys in to a leader's vision and trusts that leader's decision. I liked the breakdown of responsibilities. As someone that has been around ma...

Re: improving the build system

That's a problem with windows build systems in general. Windows is designed (in my opinion) to make things easiest for users while restricting it as a developer platform. This is especially true for cross-platform projects. cmake (what openmw uses) is probably the best tool for crossplatform builds ...

Morrowind confessions

I've owned Morrowind since 2003, and never beat the game. When I re-found it in 2009, I tried on Linux (wine) and couldn't get far before then engine broke during the main quest line. I've been waiting for 1.0 before trying again! Thank you all!

Re: Delay 1.0 untill all of MWSE is implemented

I do not care. I just want my stuff possible. Is it? Yes, it is possible. See psi29a's link for a version of openmw that uses python as the scripting language (and it works!) You could theoretically change anything in the game using an interface like that. But just because it can be done doesn't me...

Re: Installing OpenMW Dependency Problem

I don't think the current openmw can work on Jessie (lots of missing libraries), and there is no Debian package for Jessie. Easiest fix would be to install a stretch (or sid) chroot using debbootstrap: https://wiki.debian.org/Debootstrap Then you can just enter the chroot and do "apt-get instal...
