Re: OpenMW performance vs Vanilla+MCP - are there any benchmarks/comparisons?

I also remember there were ways to recompress textures to faster formats, but I suppose this might also affect load times more than anything.

For HDD users, you could unpack the BSAs, replace all the vanilla files with desired mod files. Run PyFFI over everything. Then re-pack it all as a BSA. Then your HDD won't need to seek even on mod files.

Some thoughts: Try compiling OpenMW yourself, but tune the compiler options for your specific AMD processor. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTc2NDg When compiling, try using pre-releases of OpenSceneGraph (OSG). Last I heard, OpenMW successfully compiled with them. https://github...

Re: Hackers wanted to (indirectly) help out openmw security

Ace, I'm in favor of allowing the use of unshield on Windows. I don't want ancient DirectX packages clogging up my system, etc. I think the openmw installer is faster and nicer, and being open source is something we can more confidently support.

Re: Essential Mods?

The original heads may hold a certain charm, but the thousands of endorsements for Better Heads clearly shows that not everyone shares this perspective.

Re: Essential Mods?

There's too many awesome mods to name. The easiest way to get a heavily modded setup going is to use Morrowind Overhaul . (It generally isn't published on the modding sites because they didn't use proper etiquette in terms of consulting all the innumerable mod authors.) But the bare essentials are -...

Re: Wayland Issues

Nice, I just found that the mouse issues are ok if I execute the game with this command SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland openmw As long as anti-aliasing is set to zero, I think if you run Arch linux, all the standard packages allow it to run on wayland just fine, without any special config options. Simply be...

Re: Wayland Issues

Found out that it actually works in wayland as long as I set anti-aliasing to zero. Does anyone know why anti-aliasing is causing the GLX issues? Wayland is not playable yet, in KWin. There are some remaining relative mouse issues. Those issues are supposed to have been fixed in SDL and KWin, but it...

Re: Wayland Issues

Even if QT5 isn't preferred, it works just fine on X11. I used OpenGL-ES in order to try to leverage EGL, which is what Wayland likes. Not building with OpenGL-ES gives the same error.

My understanding is that GLX and Wayland don't play nicely, which is why KWin uses EGL on Wayland. I'm using KWin.
