Re: Best Game engines
I'd say there isn't a best engine. Only what's best for you. I can't do anything more than just suggest things that you might like. I think you should go with Unity if you're making a 3d game or GameMaker for a 2d game. Never used GameMaker but it's supposed to be pretty decent.

Re: Best Game engines
Those are two entirely different beasts. For an RPG, I'd pick Unity, but I'm utterly clueless about what would be good for an RTS. Not that Unity is the best out there. Just that it's a good combo of accessibility and extensibility for an average user.

Re: Day off = Snuggie + Plushies + Coffee
Turkish coffee is fantastic. A housemate of a friend made me some once and it was really good. I consider coffee to be a drug more than a beverage, but I acknowledge that the flavor can be made palatable by somebody who really puts effort into it (or if you actually get good coffee, which I don't). ...

Re: OpenMW 0.27.0
The weekly update made it sound like you need help. I'm taking a very light load this semester and am working on porting a game to Android with a friend, so I'm sure I can free up some time to help out again. I talked to Chris about physics because that's what I know the most about, but it sounds li...

Re: Oculus Rift
Oh wow, I thought that repo was for ogre, not a demo. Guess I didn't look to close. That's super neat then! I was feeling pretty glum because really now, who wants to modify Ogre and then maintain it? But now I'm going to go get hyped up again.

Re: Oculus Rift
Looks like kojack finished his fork. Does anybody know if it is going to be merged? I hope so because I don't see OpenMW rift support happening if we have to switch to a fork of Ogre and lose any new features or bugfixes.

Re: First-person camera independent of body
Saw the youtube comment and came here to chime in. The only way I've seen this done is with an oculus rift. That said, I haven't played many games so there may be some out there that do it some other way. (edit: went through the youtube comments. looks like tons of games do it) It seems like a featu...

Re: OpenMW 0.24.0
Which DLL is it lacking, exactly? I could just package that one for now, even though the web redist installer should be able to install it. d2dx9_43.dll I don't know where this should come from, but it doesn't come with direct x 9 as installed from the ms website (or from a couple of old dx9 games ...

Re: Oculus Rift
Actually it is fairly simple to combine the oculus orientation with mouse, if the oculus is the cameras local rotation and the normal controls do as they do now (cut out the pan up and down as this can get a little funky). But you can give options like TF2 did before the last patch broke oculus sup...
