Re: Morrowind, Oblivion, or others ways what do you like mor

I am going to step out side the box a moment and say that I thought Skyrim's combat style was rather nice. It was more dynamic than the previous two. I will stop there though as I didnt find much else an improvement in that game; also because I dont feel like writing several paragraphs on everything...

Re: [post-1.0] SmartBody - character animation system for Og

My largest concern with mocapping is that it's only as good as the person being capped. If you asked me to be your motion capture guy you'd better be happy with clumsy strutting around and the occasional halfhearted jump off the ground. I don't know if we have any professional athletes/stuntpeople ...

Re: Smart NPCs

The one "smart" thing I'd really like to see is the ability for NPCs to seamlessly go through load doors, especially when fighting the player. This. I second this. Fliggerty did "Fleeing fletchers" (Using MWSE) where the enemies will follow you thru doors. It does add to the str...

Re: Multiplayer?

feature-creep and over-engineering... 'nough said. While I would add in a little more and be a little less conservative compared to how zini is keeping things(and I am not the only one) I think I have to agree that things have been kept on track and that yes adding in too much is a bad thing. The r...

Re: Multiplayer?

Yeah but dehardcoding is a bad idea. For one it is very boring and could jeopardize multiplayers existence. Two why decode when we can write the same code and keep it non specific. Three it's very time consuming and leads to poorer designs when the systems grow and developers wish to extend. That i...

Re: Multiplayer?

OpenMW post-1.0.0 probably should include multiplayer at its core, rather than encouraging modders to do their own thing, but the OpenMW multiplayer should focus on simply recreating Morrowind's space between players (i.e. player 2 loads player 1's game state) and then modders can figure out what t...

Re: Smart NPCs

This isnt as complex as it seems, but definitly I think we would OpenMW to do it. Take for example chance evaluation, all they would have to do is basically compare your armor value etc. It could become complex the more things you add to take into account, but its certainly rather straight forward.

Re: AI Combat - Alert my friends!

A good thing to keep in mind is that this can be expanded upon later to act more like Skyrim's crime system where you can kill all the witnesses to your crime.

Re: Trader Gold

Just keep it simple. During the trading add the gold to the merchant inventory, remove it after finishing trading. No, the gold in the inventory should reset after the 24 hour period. What if you decided you wanted to sell the guy something and then immediatly turn around and rob him, you wouldnt b...

Re: NPC's shouldn't ware what you sold them.

I think this is a moddable situation, at least I hope it will be. It is a wierd situation that NPCs immediately wear things you sell them, resulting in more than one idea to sell a cursed item and wait until said NPC dies from a permanent -1 health enchantment on a helm (as an example). ST the NPC ...
