Re: Concerning save files

I take it this is one reason OpenMW save files are so large. It's funny seeing those next to my Skyrim Special Edition saves, which after 120+ hours of play sits at a mighty 5.34 MB. That's interesting, they really seem to be a lot smaller than those from the classic Skyrim... I haven't played the ...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Considering how bad OpenMW still is with complex collision meshes, it should help.

Re: Stop rain/snow from falling through pieces of environmen

Perhaps Skyrim SE isn't so different after all. It is possible to see the occasional raindrop falling through holes and gaps in the ceiling (the same is true of Fallout 4), as you describe. Unless the individual particles are just really really small. As far as I know (can't check right now) it doe...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

I'am not programmer but I think from morrowind to fo4 they use same engine with some updates. Yeah, some. :D I am also not a programmer, but just playing Oblivion makes it obvious how much more complex some things must be in this engine, especially when it comes to NPCs, physics, and so on. What's ...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Yeah, well, that's nice and all, but I strongly suspect porting meshes and worldspaces will be among the least problems to make an OpenOblivion engine happen.

Re: Application: djdduty

Oh yes, that would be great if you could somehow fix the physics/collision issue. The vanilla game has absolutely no problem with complex collision meshes (many modded meshes don't have collision meshes at all and so their actual geometry is used), but OpenMW sometimes even has issues with vanilla m...

Re: Bump mappers assemble!

Thanks DestinedToDie, now we have something to point to the next time someone asks that "why is everything shiny" question again. However, the article doesn't mention this is only an issue for certain third-party mods, not the vanilla game itself, this might be confusing to a casual player. I agree...

Re: Bump mappers assemble!

It's funny that people who install old landscape textures on the new Skyrim SE experience almost the same effect - and even for a similar reason. :D The SE changed the way normal maps work on terrain and makes opaque normal maps appear shiny, just as they already did on meshes before. The solution i...

Re: some textures aren't rendered correctly

That would be great!

Also, a short term solution may be to replace the reflection textures from these mods with blank ones, which should completely disable the effect. Like the one from this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44373/?
