Re: Free-licensed game in OpenMW engine?

I am a noob at both blender and photogrammetry Well take a look at my attempts - that's the closes I've ever gotten to photogrammetry :D Painted my face with a marker, took photos, then made a pointcloud and finally a mesh in Blender :D Your results are awesome - could you maybe share the models at...

Re: Free-licensed game in OpenMW engine?

For super-low-poly stuff like some of the meshes here, normal Catmull-Clark subdivision might make things look worse. By just blindly subdivinding definitely yes. However Blender makes it super easy to manually control the subdivision by marking edges as sharp, weighting individual edges' "roundnes...

Re: Free-licensed game in OpenMW engine?

Thanks for the resources psi :) I was just about to say that OpenMW is unlikely to support the animation format and some manual conversions and polishes would have to be done... but still much better than starting from scratch. Having all the animation data even in not-directly-compatible format is ...

Re: Free-licensed game in OpenMW engine?

Okay, look, here I shot a few models from 0 A.D.:

There's hundreds of them and they're all CC-BY-SA, all animated and stuff. Now I really think someone should put OpenMW and 0 A.D. together :)

Re: Free-licensed game in OpenMW engine?

It isn't much visually yet but here are a few screens. https://imgur.com/a/3CXbL0u Thank you! It's definitely something to start with - all of these assets will have to be replaced with free ones anyway. I could help with looking them up and editing them. I have some personal collections of models ...

I'm actually working on a libre OpenMW game called Greylock. Post apocalyptic sci-fi inspired by Morrowind and Deus Ex.
Wow, can't wait to see it :) Please share it as soon as you can, a lot of people will want to help out, me including.

Big thanks to psi29a's amazing work, also to Zini and all other people for setting this up so quickly. It's really much better this way.

Quote from John Romero on tools.
Romero is biased because he worked on tools. Carmack would tell you the priority was the engine and the cleaning lady would insist clean floor is the critical aspect. But yeah, tools matter.

It's a quest giver! :D
lol

Seriously though, I don't know. Do you have any mods active? I think I've seen this with some mods, the exclamation mark means a missing asset I think, which could be caused by loading the mods in wrong order or something.

I thought that OpenMW doesn't currently use them properly. Doesn't OpenMW generate bitmaps from those TT fonts. I remember it being a problem with GUI scaling because it generates the standard size as bitmaps and then scales the bitmaps, negating the point of TT being vectors.
Yes, see this.
