Unless the files got corrupted by some odd reason seems that something is blocking them. In those case when I can't run a binary, I try to run the exe from the shell to see if something happens, or check if any log file is created. Try executing the wizard. When you do you'll need to browse to your Morrowind.esm (or .bsa, srry, don't remember now) and import your Morrowind.ini configuration.

Also, could it be some antivirus blocking the .exe?

I can confirm that my Xbox 360 pad is not working with OpenMW 0.42, so maybe something got broken in the las release.
