Re: New Door & Wood Grain Column Textures: Comments & Critiq

The ingame screenshots appear to be gone, but I downloaded the textures themselves to take a look at them. First, compression: Your textures use DXT5 compression. This is not necessary. If there is no transparency, always use DXT1. It is a common misconception that DXT5 compression has better qualit...

Re: Faction colors

Something like this doesn't necessarily need any 3D modeling (in fact I doubt it was used to make this image), you can get similar results with Photoshop's layer effects Bevel and Emboss . The creator of that image used 3Ds Max (https://www.behance.net/gallery/3985601/Game-of-thrones-wallpapers) I ...

Re: Faction colors

I wish I could do something like this, but I'm a complete 3D-modelling rookie :o https://americansoccerball.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/hear-me-roar-1.png Something like this doesn't necessarily need any 3D modeling (in fact I doubt it was used to make this image), you can get similar results with ...

Re: Lysol's normal mapped texture packs

So am I, I've been working with the Niftools crew since last week. So what are your pain points that would make using 2.77 practical for you? Feel free to make a list. One of the things I'm working on is that faces with n-gons aren't being converted to quads/tris, thus preventing an export to NIF. ...

Re: Lysol's normal mapped texture packs

You should probably read this thread: https://forum.openmw.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4083 Ah, that one, yes... I know about that. They have been working on it for ages and it is still not in a state that could be called finished. I guess it somewhat works, but many features of the old 2.49b plugin a...

Re: niftools and blender plugin

Looking at some other vanilla models in nifskope, It appears that all the texture file extensions in those .nif files were .tga. Can I assume the game engine falls back or simply loads up a .dds whenever it encounters the .tga extension? The game can use both .tga and .dds files, but will use .dds ...

Re: Lysol's normal mapped texture packs

Oh, this is pretty good! You do realize that I already made a new model for the steel claymore and all other steel weapons some time ago? :D Just saying, because it could possibly have saved you some work... I have been planning to make new textures for them, too, but there has not been much ...

Re: Better player movement collisions

I also get this a lot when I run against the bellows next to the forge in Sadrith Mora (or in other parts of the game world). It is a fairly complex mesh by Morrowind standards and does not have its own collision mesh. Has anyone ever tried PyFFI-ing the morrowind meshes? I ask becuz it is a thing ...

Re: Better player movement collisions

@lambda, I believe the issue is with the notorious slave pods in Sadrith Mora. Can't find a link right now, but it's a known issue with physics and Sadrith Mora lags on my machine as well. https://forum.openmw.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3696 I also get this a lot when I run against the bellows next to...
