Re: Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim ways what do you like mo

The only things that I really like about Skyrim/Oblivion are controversial. I actually like slow regeneration of health/magicka, because I tend to take little scratches all over the place and am OCD enough that a trip through the countryside in vanilla Morrowind consists of a lot of little walks pun...

Re: [post-1.0] SmartBody - character animation system for Og

My largest concern with mocapping is that it's only as good as the person being capped. If you asked me to be your motion capture guy you'd better be happy with clumsy strutting around and the occasional halfhearted jump off the ground. I don't know if we have any professional athletes/stuntpeople a...

Re: Multiplayer?

Yeah, I agree. It is important to keep multiplayer a post 1.0 feature. Even if it's necessary to go back and change things to have a cohesive multiplayer and singleplayer experience, at least the traditional Morrowind format will be working.

Re: Multiplayer?

Dehardcoding is crucial to OpenMW being its own standalone engine that can do a variety of things. Basically, despite Morrowind and its successors being "Mod-friendly", they aren't actually all that incredibly flexible. Something like Dungeon Siege, on the other hand, can have major changes implemen...

Re: Multiplayer?

More like post 2.0 or something. Multiplayer isnt that important compared with the numerous other things like physics etc that need to be added. I'd beg to differ. I think that in terms of high-demand features, multiplayer's pretty high on the list. It'd earn OpenMW a lot of the traffic from "Is th...

Re: Smart NPCs

But the only way I survived Daedra shrines back when I was a newb was going through load doors! On a more serious note, any consideration for smarter NPCs and threat assessment requires us to consider a lot of variables; we don't have to consider them all, but we should also try to be somewhat lore ...

Re: Multiplayer?

OpenMW post-1.0.0 probably should include multiplayer at its core, rather than encouraging modders to do their own thing, but the OpenMW multiplayer should focus on simply recreating Morrowind's space between players (i.e. player 2 loads player 1's game state) and then modders can figure out what to...

I mean, technically, clean room reverse engineering isn't problematic, but you don't want to have to go to court and argue "Well, technically...".

Re: tying powers to real time instead of gametime

Isn't resting a thing in Morrowind? Why not just do that to pass the time when you want to use your powers again?

Re: Unreal Engine 4

I wouldn't hold your breath there; until UE4 announced native Linux support (probably part of the WebGL move away from DirectX), Epic was really disappointing me for a while. I'm not a Linux user, but I massively prefer OpenGL to DirectX, because I don't want another operating system "upgrade" to pl...
