Re: New Font Implementation

A general non-game-specific font could make sense to include, something that looks okay (i.e. readable) regardless of the game and is guaranteed to be there in case something goes wrong with the game-specific fonts. Although I'd avoid things like the Daedric font since they're obviously TES-specific...

Re: Heads up...

I have a question. With GitHub/Redmine, I would get emails for PR activity (opened/closed messages, responses, etc) even if I didn't participate in it, while for bugs I'd only get messages if I created the issue or was assigned to it. Is there some way to set up GitLab's notifications similarly? It ...

Re: exclamation marks

An exclamation mark like that means a mesh wasn't found, so falls back to that obnoxiously large thing to get your attention. It would be caused by either a broken Morrowind installation (missing vanilla resources), or an incorrectly installed mod (missing mod resources).

Re: Mac Visual Issues

To be clear, "gamma" is the output voltage control of your monitor or television. It's the non-linear response curve of the display's intensity. Images are given an inverse gamma so that it can be passed directly to the screen, where the curves cancel out and the image displays correctly. Changing t...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility

Regarding native extensions, you'll never have 100% support everywhere, and that's fine. There's no entitlement or expectation for your Raspberry Pi build of Morrowind to be able to have touch pressure sensitivity with jerry-rigged hardware, and it's not worth limiting a game engine for the one guy...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility

Nothing should stop that from happening. In plenty of cases, that's desirable behavior. For example, someone might want to incorporate 3D Touch on iOS into the UI, with that dehardcoded. OpenMW very likely won't expose that os-specific feature, but a plugin can. Other OSs can never have a similar f...

Re: Distant objects

I also tried to use the osg::Image::scaleImage() to get low-quality textures, but for some reason it only works for TGA textures DXT (what's usually in DDS) is a block-based compression scheme. You can't scale it without decompressing and recompressing the image, which would be both slow and lossy ...

Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting

Option C will still let us play Morrowind on OpenMW right? The translator will be able to take the scripts from the original content and convert them into newscript? Yes, I don't imagine any option that would break vanilla compatibility is ever going to be considered. It's just a question of how th...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility

Competition isn't actually a thing by the way. When competition happens and has good results it's an anomaly. I would argue the opposite. The lack of competition has consistently shown to be a major factor for the lack of progress, or for an increase in consumer-unfriendly actions. It's when you st...

Re: MWSE, Lua and OpenMW compatibility

Yeah, I'm not sure. But every time you download pluggy, or Frostfall, or any of these mods that ship with a Oblivion or Skyrim DLL, that's all precompiled code and that's not limited to Morrowind's or Oblivion's or Skyrim's sandbox. So they can go, and can delete your files, or do whatever. But wha...
