Re: OpenMW Arch Linux ARM Build
Looks like you are just using the CPU and not your GPU. I can get 25fps outside with a RPi2 @ 1080p Ok. Yes, I am suspecting I may not have the correct X11 drivers installed for the Mali GPU. What CPU/GPU is the RPi2 using? Regarding the videos: they seem to play fine in smplayer , so it doesn't se...

Screenshot: https://leerstrobel.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/armv7_texture_issues.png You can see there seem to be issues with some textures (mostly on trees/plants), but not others. The red sky looks quite cool, actually :D (sorry for the issues with the screenshots. Hopefully I have it sorted no...

Re: OpenMW Arch Linux ARM Build
I updated my Linux kernel version and the panfrost driver now seems more stable, so I tried compiling OpenMW on my Chromebook, as I'm curious to see how it performs. For OSG, I ran into some compilation errors towards the end with a 'RestHttp' plugin that wasn't able to find some functions related t...

Re: balance in openmw
Yes, it's all the same. It uses the same data files as the original game, which is where most of those things are specified.

Re: Possible issue with shadow edge resolution?
Increasing the shadow map resolution to 2048 does seem to help the edges in the 'non-magically-optimized' view directions. It doesn't seem to be affecting the FPS very much either, which is nice.

Re: Default graphic settings to show improvement over vanilla engine
It's because you're one of the 1 %. You won't believe every time we've had to deal with people that complain about bad performance and don't undestand why. The setting is there, you are free to use it and you are free to recommend it to people. But don't come here telling us to make it a default se...

Re: Default graphic settings to show improvement over vanilla engine
You've also got your shadow settings much lower than most people who'd even consider turning ECLD up would have them. Shadows multiply the performance difference. It is true that I'm prioritizing view distance over shadow quality, which is probably why I'm noticing the other issue I mentioned with ...

Re: Possible issue with shadow edge resolution?
@AnyOldName3: thanks for the detailed info, that's very interesting. It seems like it's known behavior then, that the shadow edges look blockier in certain directions. I'll try the higher resolution setting and see if it helps. I will also pay more attention to the shadows in other 3D games from now...

Re: Default graphic settings to show improvement over vanilla engine
It doesn't matter really. ECLD higher than 1 or 2 tanks the fps for 99 % of all users so it is plain dumb to suggest a high number as a default setting or even as a toggable setting in the launcher. It works well for you? Neat. But it won't for most people, so let's wait for decent distant statics ...

Re: Possible issue with shadow edge resolution?
I've explored it a bit more and there doesn't seem to be any correlation with the number of drawables being reported by the profiler. I tried it at different times of day and I'm seeing a clear pattern that the resolution drops significantly when I'm looking in the same direction as the shadow is be...
