Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting

https://gitlab.com/OpenMW/openmw/issues/4467

Limited to a single component with barely more than a dozen files. Doesn't require any familiarity with OpenMW. Just basic C++ and a tiny bit of Qt.

Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting

@Chris Correct. That is exactly what I had in mind. @Okulo Remember option C is a far future project and it will only happen if we find enough volunteers for this task, which is not certain either. I wouldn't make plans for this case yet. If you do have some spare time and wish to contribute, there ...

Re: Heads up...

Can you point out what you mean with template? I don't see a template project on the old tracker. I vaguely remember what it is about, but I haven't heard anything about it for ages. I thought it was dead. Regarding the example suite: I think it would make more sense to have a different project with...

Re: Heads up...

Somewhat useful. However, a lot of work for a few special cases. We aren't exactly getting swarmed with crash reports. Still, if someone really wants to put in the time I wouldn't object to it.

Re: Heads up...

Sounds potentially very spammy to me. We already have the forum for support request. I don't see the need for another channel.

Re: OpenMW 0.44.0

"technically". Yeah, I heard that one before. Let's not take risks. One more round, please. Its not as if we are in a hurry. The ETA for the release video is still +2 weeks anyway.

Edit:

New issue on the tracker: Bug #4424

Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting

Absolutely not. We still need the ability to debug oldscript scripts (can't reasonably debug on byte-code level). Also, the purpose of the translator is not only to get oldscript running without the current scripting engine, but also to automatically port scripts over to newscript, so that content d...

Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting

In the C option. Nowhere else. Unless you mean the basic instructions, about which I don't care either way anymore at this point.

Re: The Future of OpenMW Scripting

OK, how does older MWSE extensions and newer MWSE extension fit into this now? Older MWESE extensions to vanilla MW script language, MWESE lua extensions? Then older MWSE is pretty much dead. This would require a substantial rewrite of the scripting engine (also create a maintenance nightmare; we s...
