Re: Application: Sailanarmo

As it's been unsupported for quite a while, I might have been wrong about some people still being stuck on Qt4. Do we have evidence that it would be bad to use the new upstream osgQt changes and drop Qt4 support? I am probably not the best person to answer this. The only thing I can say is this is ...

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

Yeah, I'll have a deeper look when I get home. These were just some thoughts, because I think our stripped down version is still using the old osgQt code which depends on QGLWidget which is now deprecated, which may have problems in Qt5. That was the point I was trying to make.

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

Qt4-style OpenGL is deprecated, but that doesn't mean it's expected not to work or that everyone should immediately try and migrate. OpenGL is deprecated on MacOS, and yet no one's panicking that we're not using an as-yet-nonexistent MetalSceneGraph. Upstream osgQt has a branch which uses Qt5-style...

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

Yeah, I meant it is an osgQt issue. I noticed that someone has ported a version over and is currently maintaining it. Whether it works or not I am not too sure. But it seems that user has migrated the QGLWidget to QOpenGLWidget and QOpenGLWindow. Digging a little further shows that the official OSG ...

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

Oof yeah, I know that Qt Deprecated QGLWidget so if OSG is still using QGLWidget in some of their calls instead of moving to QOpenGLWidget or QOpenGLWindow then there can be some dependency issues. However, that will be quite a challenge since I am sure that there are plenty of OSG users that are st...

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

Do we know where in Scene Widget it crashes? I can take a deeper look when I get home from work.

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

@AnyOldName3, do you have a link to the issue I can look at? I might have a look. Threads are fun to try and figure out (sarcasm). But I can have a look, never hurts to have more than one person take a peak.

Re: Application: Sailanarmo

The first thing to do would be to look on the issue tracker and see if there's anything you think you can do - you seem pretty competent, so you should be able to find something interesting. The editor is probably what needs the most attention, but that might not be the most interesting thing avail...

Greetings, I tried to join around two years ago. However that was in the middle of some of my toughest semesters at my University and now that I am graduated and in the real world I would love to help out in any way that I can. I am very proficient in C++. I also have learned how to use QT and their...
