Varying view distance
By all means, shut me up if what I suggest has been done. Many of us have a love/hate relationship with viewing distance in Morrowind. On the one hand, we all like sweeping panoramic views, but that being said, there are places in the game where the extended view destroys the sense (or illusion) of ...

Doesn't start
Okay, so I've installed OpenMW. I click on the shortcut, and all I get is a little black box with some text in it, which disappears after a few seconds, and that's it.
Can anyone explain for me, which missing step was I supposed to know about? Thanks, kindly.

Re: Parallax Occlusion : A possibility?
I'll be happy when there are normal maps for every texture. It doesn't look like it will be done anytime soon, and I'll be more than content to accept this project as complete when it finally crosses that line. What you are asking for is something that OpenMW's dev team cannot help you with. We do ...

Re: Where is the project at with normals/parallax?
OpenMW is not a mod or a game, dammit. People on this forum need to stop acting like this needs saying. So just because OpenMW is an engine that supports normal mapping, that somehow means I shouldn't even consider the likelihood of actually seeing that feature get used? If the eventuality of playi...

Project not complete without normal maps.
I'll be happy when there are normal maps for every texture. It doesn't look like it will be done anytime soon, and I'll be more than content to accept this project as complete when it finally crosses that line. The idea of developing the newest of modern gaming's graphical features in an engine made...

Re: Where is the project at with normals/parallax?
Thank you for your comprehensive answer, damiel. I may wait several months to see if normal mapping begins to take off, but I'll wager that in the more likely outcome, Skywind will be out before all of OpenMW is normal mapped. If that appears to be the unfolding trend over the next few months, then ...

Re: Where is the project at with normals/parallax?
For all things except sky, water (uses its own shader, but non-shader water should work too) and interface. It'd be hard to do it differently. I had taken this statement to mean that normal maps already exist throughout the current release of OpenMW (which would mean that the handful of normal map ...

Re: Where is the project at with normals/parallax?
Not sure if I understood you correctly, but normal mapping and parallax mapping are fully supported (that is, returned back) since 0.39.0 version. Why would you think that without it such mods would appear then? I'm well aware that it's supported, and that this is why those mods exist. The question...
