Re: Two interesting PRs to watch

One of the biggest reasons people are not using OpenMW is because they can't use MGEXE to prettify their Morrowind with shaders. Bingo, unfortunately. But to be honest, very understandably. The day we have shadows, distant statics, and grass generation will be a happy day indeed. Those are the only...

Re: Need help testing PR #1594, which fixes controller issues

I tested my controller briefly with the latest nightly. It's an xbox 360 controller and worked as well as it ever has in OpenMW. This is on Windows 10 though, are you only concerned with macOS? I haven't used a controller in ages due to the lack of a proper GUI for them in OpenMW, but the right joys...

Re: Rain reflections

For a start, spectral mapping might help when rendering ghosts and spirits, but not with puddles. I think the word you're after is specular. Haha it is indeed. Those would certainly have helped out in those ancestral tombs. As for the water reflections, I don't think we need actual puddles reflecti...

Rain reflections

Hey all, it's a rainy day where I am and on my way to work I was thinking how cool would it be if there were reflections on the ground when it rained. How hard would it be to implement something like that? I imagine it would be some kind of spectral map toggle. The only problem I can foresee is if t...

Re: Texture upscaling mod question

Well, altogether this has been a rather discouraging experience. Basically every step of the way has been considerably more complicated than I anticipated. Photoshop's batching capabilities are much more limited than I had hoped and forced me to use an external tool to convert everything back into a...

Re: Texture upscaling mod question

Smart people think something like this: Most major textures in Morrowind is 256x256. These guys go up to 2048x2048 if you go for 2k, which is 8 times bigger than 256. Then you have some 64x64 textures. Go for 8x bigger again, which is 512. Etc etc. Most textures (they are also the largest ones) wil...

Re: Texture upscaling mod question

As long as you upscale a texture while keeping the proportions (preferably by the power of two), it will stretch over the mesh properly. Great! That was my main concern. As for the rest, I completely agree. It will never be as good as a good texture made from scratch at a higher resolution, but wit...

Texture upscaling mod question

Tl;dr: Ignoring how blurry it will be, is there anything I have to do to get an upscaled texture to display correctly? E.g. if I take a 64x64 texture and increase the image size to 256x256, will it still stretch over the mesh properly and get rid of the jagged pixels? I have no experience whatsoever...

Re: 2018

This is exceptionally exciting! We all eagerly await the post-1.0 concept plan! Guess I better get off my ass and start helping with documentation again.

Re: VPN suggestions

http://e.lvme.me/jaa7pj5.jpg I'm a materials engineer and actually learned a lot about how semiconductor devices are made and there is no way a single person would ever have the technical know-how to design a microprocessor and construct it that actually ran at reasonable speeds by today's standard...
