Have you tried editing the keys in the OpenMW options -> controls -> controller tab ? I use my PS2's DualShock 2 gamepad with PS2-to-USB Controller Adapter to play PS games on Xubuntu using PCSX. Does OpenMW support DualShock 2 gamepad?
