Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

Yes, it's sad but your brother is right, most people don't give a crap about open source. That's why it's important for open source projects and their communities to care for it. The day that open source projects start not giving a crap themselves will be the end of the free software movement. Nowad...

Re: Issue #3185 - finding a suitable NPC model

I inquired him about this, just to make sure. His answer was: You would need to develop new animation files, that is true. However, the animation files were never a part of our mod, and our models just used the same ones that came with Morrowind. But because our models and our mod are completely ind...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

You can be "on GitHub" without putting your project's source up. Yes, that's why I said it's very rare. I didn't say you can't do it. Did someone seriously expect that a VCS website like Github would have its top most important publicly hosted services be user-facing issue trackers (more like suppo...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

I do agree as well with scrawl that the intelligent way to go for OpenMW is to become an open source engine for fully open source RPG worlds and open collaboration, a truly community-driven open world, getting away from even Bethesda's content. In my opinion, sticking with making OpenMW be just an i...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

If you want to talk about what's "on GitHub" without specifically elaborating that you're including private stuff, it's going to mean the public stuff. In that case the statement has no real value. He could just as well have said that most of the code that's publicly available on the world as a who...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

https://www.linuxfoundation.org/blog/microsoft-buys-github-the-linux-foundations-reaction/ Did he seriously need to triple check with a team of lawyers whether Microsoft owns the projects now? Honestly.. after reading that part he lost all credibility for me. It's as if buying a gardening company t...

Re: Issue #3185 - finding a suitable NPC model

I found something interesting: https://www.reddit.com/r/Morrowind/comments/16wna5/iama_maker_of_the_morrowind_mod_better_bodies_ama/c805zvl/ The original creator of the "Better Bodies" mod hosted an IAMA on reddit some time ago (5 years!) and one of the questions that came up was actually if he woul...

Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

FWIW, just an opinion from a Github lurker watching the project: being able to centralize issue tracking and PRs in one place would be a lot more interesting and easier to follow, so I wouldn't be afraid of losing followers when moving to Gitlab (I can lurk there too :P). Those people really followi...

Re: Artist wants to help the project.

Another thing that a "traditional" artist can do is make concept art. Thats's a good point, Morrowind's intermission loading screens are full of nice random concept art. Also, those with imagination and good english could help with writings. Things like descriptions of flora/fauna, places, tales, l...

Re: Change in how 1st person camera is positioned

It appears https://bugs.openmw.org/issues/3957 was fixed. But I'm still experimenting this issue.
Do I have something misconfigured or is this still happening for the Example Suite?
