Re: Microsoft Buys Github for $7.5 Billion

So I guess that's a 'bye'. Don't try to win me back because you could hardly say or do anything in earnest at this point. Sorry to see you go, scrawl. For what it's worth I think most of the main contributors and many of us observers agree with your vision. Thanks for everything, and take care of y...

It's already in the tracker: https://bugs.openmw.org/issues/2253

Re: libpng12 dependency

Previous reports of this issue all seem to be using the generic tar.gz release. Is this also the case here? If so, you may see better results if you install openmw from the Ubuntu ppa.

Re: Accusations of OpenMW having an in-built bitcoin miner?

Posted a reply warning the user that the burden of proof rests with them. That this is libel and that they can be prosecuted. Scott is a professor at Nortre Dame, they will protect their own. Even if you could successfully sue someone for shitposting on Steam (which I seriously doubt), I don't thin...

Re: Worst birthsign in Morrowind?

The Lord, no contest. A sub-par healing spell (Blood of the North) in exchange for a permanent 100% weakness to fire (Trollkin)? No thanks. Though I suppose one could choose it as an Altmer (for a total of 150% weakness to fire) for a self-imposed challenge. The Serpent is another contender. The onl...

Re: WPA2 has been compromised, upgrade yo s***

Oh shit. Both client and AP must be patched for communication to remain secure. That effectively means that any public wifi must be considered as insecure even if it is encrypted with WPA2, since you don't know whether the administrator of that network has patched their router. Even worse, there are...

Re: S3TC compression library conflicts and Steam

I was going off the wiki information, which says missing S3TC results in white textures. Perhaps that is the problem after all, then. Are you using the i386 or amd64 version of openmw? You mentioned that when you try to install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc, it is said to conflict with libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0: i386 . ...

Re: S3TC compression library conflicts and Steam

libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 was renamed to libtxc-dxtn-s2tc in Ubuntu 17.04, following the release of version 1.0. They refer to different versions of the same piece of software, so if you already have one of them installed, you don't need the other. libtxc-dxtn-s2tc does not exist in Xenial's repos, which me...

Re: How to use mailing lists?

Mailing lists are great. They are the simplest (and therefore the best) solution to the problem of having a large, geographically disparate group of people communicate with each other. Not only are they virtually technology-agnostic (all you need to participate is the ability to send and receive ema...
