Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Currently re-writing the NIF code - up to now various bits were hacked/grafted into existing code and that really can't be maintained in the longer term. But I've decided to leave existing code for TES3 alone for now. Progress is slow. On top of that someone will have to port all the Ogre code into ...

Well, I for one am really excited to hear the possibility of a custom physics engine for OpenMW

Re: OpenMW’s mb/s data load rate?

The big performance advantage of BA2s over BSAs (both of which come in compressed and uncompressed formats to optimise for different situations) is that texture BA2s hold DDS images based on their content, not as individual files. In the table of file names, there's a pointer to the DDS header (whi...

Re: OpenMW’s mb/s data load rate?

Hopefully, we'll have a fast BA2-style archive format by then that Morrowind can be repackaged in, and if that's the case, the only limit will be the power of your machine. I believe BSA archives already support compressed files? If my BSA changes are merged in OpenMW can already support it. Over t...

Re: data folder order causing physics stutter

Just a guess, but I suspect the data folder causing trouble has more complicated NIF meshes (either too many triangles or duplicated or something else).

EDIT: wait, the mod is textures only? If so there should be no mesh changes... No idea then.

Re: OpenNuka

Let me add something to the discussion - not every contribution has to be coding related - it could be finding defects, finding how something works in game, finding other devs, encouraging/motivating people, creating/maintaining a list of tasks, etc, etc. An easy way to start might even be to port m...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated. However I would feel better if you donated to a charity of your choice instead - maybe one that supports mental health issues if I may suggest? The wait for a sale is more to with the thrill of getting a bargain than anything else. Fortunately my days as a poo...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

The best way would be to cherry-pick some of the commits for review/merge, since many of the changes (especially earlier ones) were already reviewed and not accepted for one reason or another. It's probably best viewed as working examples (or libraries) rather than a pull-request.

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

Pushed TES4 ESM reader code. Also pushed the bridging code to partially integrate into OpenMW/OpenCS. By partial I mean that the records are thrown away after reading, rather than saving them into data structures for further use. That part of the code needs some more thinking before making them publ...

Re: Elder-scrolls IV Oblivion

As promised in another forum discussion I've pushed TES4 BSA changes to github (cc9cii branch). I'll also try to push the TES4/TES5 ESM reader code.
